The company formerly known as Carson's Construction Limited, started as a joint venture in November, 1980 between Carson Cumberbatch & Co. Ltd., And the Edwards Brothers Group of New Zealand.

Following a management buyout of shares owned by Carson Cumberbatch & Co. Ltd., The Company changed its name to "CML EDWARDS CONSTRUCTION LIMITED" the name of our New Zealand Partner. In April 1993, primarily to undertake down stream development, Land preparation work and earth moving operations using heavy machinery in various construction projects under the Accelerated Mahaweli Development Program, the most ambitious and largest ever development program launched in Sri Lanka.

In December - 2005, Edwards Brothers Group of New Zealand, divested their holding to the MTD Capital group of Malaysia and MTD Construction, One of the largest and most reputed firms listed on the " KL" stock exchange with core businesses in Civil Engineering and Construction, Infrastructure Development.

MTD is now an active partner in our company with three Directors on our board and CML Edwards will be their investment and business development entity in Sri Lanka. As the largest shareholder of our company we have full access to MTD's vast resources in Financial, Technical and Engineering fields.
